Welcome to Cosy Bike & Hike
What is Cosy Bike & Hike?
Cosy Bike & Hike is Derbyshire’s biggest multi-discipline fundraiser, supporting two children’s holiday charities. On 16 May 2026, choose from two events: Bike from Derby Arena to Skegness – 108 miles of scenic views, tasty snacks, and new friends. Hike from Derby Arena to Ashbourne – 20 miles through Derbyshire countryside and villages for a great day out.
I’m thrilled to be Patron of Cosy Bike & Hike, especially since I’ve supported the holiday centre since cycling around the world! It’s great to see so many people taking on these tough challenges, showing incredible community spirit by cheering each other on and sharing stories. The routes are awesome, and the support along the way is top-notch.
On the cycling side, it’s super inspiring to meet folks who had never cycled more than 20 miles before, giving it their all for such worthy causes. Last year, we raised over £90,000 which will help hundreds of kids get a break from tough times. If you are able, we would love you to join us in 2026.

Bike Or Hike?
Bike: Cycle to Skegness - 108 Miles
The cycle ride element of Cosy Bike & Hike is a scenic journey from Derby Arena to Skegness, complete with checkpoints and rider support along the way.
Enjoy a fully planned route with GPX downloads available, snack and lunch stops, a mobile bike mechanic, and volunteer assistance to make it a smooth and rewarding experience. A coach will be ready to take you home afterwards.
Hike: Amble to Ashbourne - 20 Miles
Prefer to walk? Then follow the historic path taken by Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army during the Jacobite rising of 1745. Starting at the same time as the ride, the route winds through countryside and charming villages, providing a unique blend of history and natural beauty.
After snack and lunch stops, the Amble concludes in the beautiful market town of Ashbourne, where a coach will be waiting to take you back to Derby.
Our Charities
Derby Kids’ Camp & Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre
We proudly support two remarkable volunteer-led charities that give disadvantaged children from Derbyshire the chance to enjoy a proper holiday — often for the first time in their lives.
Derby Kids’ Camp provides free week-long breaks each year for over 300 local children who face major challenges such as poverty, bereavement, social difficulties, or caring responsibilities at home. The camp offers them the chance to try new activities, explore the outdoors, make friends — and most importantly, simply enjoy being a kid. Each holiday costs around £235 to deliver and creates childhood memories that last a lifetime.
Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre, based in Skegness, has been offering seaside breaks for over 130 years. Their residential stays give children the chance to enjoy the beach, boost their confidence, make friends, and return home with unforgettable experiences. Relying entirely on donations and volunteers, the charity ensures that children who may never normally get a holiday have a chance to feel the sand between their toes and the sun on their face.
Together, these charities give hundreds of children the joy, friendship, and confidence that come from a real holiday — something that should be part of every childhood.
